"Clamped front" chest (13th - 15th c.)

One of a pair, custom made for a re-enactor. 30" tall, 36" long, 18" wide. Has an internal "till" as found in many church chests.

Very popular in the 13th to 15th centuries, frequently very large in size. Note "pin hinge" detail - all wood hinges, just like the originals. Can be made in any size; this one is about 32 inches long, 18 inches tall, and 18 inches wide. These require special lumber (quarter or rift sawn only) and laborious mortise-and-tenon joinery, but boy, do they look good! Options include: internal till, extra vertical "stile" piece on ends (as shown on the large chest, above), authentic lumber dimensions, iron hasp and lock-plate, etc. Contact us for pricing.

Side panels and lids are attached with replica forged iron nails. Hinge styles may vary, depending on availability. Typical size 18 inches high, 24 inches long, 12 inches wide; smaller sizes also available. Handles optional.
